Too scared to write memoir?
This week I wrote a guest post for London Lit Lab, my little teaching company, and I'm sharing it here too.
The piece I wrote for
this week is an edited extract from my forthcoming book, INTO BEING: The Radical Craft of Memoir and it Power to Transform, which I am currently writing. I have been trying to write a chapter a month, and actually this month I am a little behind, but this extract comes from a chapter on ethics. It’s a subject I’ve written about so much, as I wrote a column for Mslexia, and also covered it in my letters to earlier this year - that it’s more a matter of finding that road through that material, which is sitting banked up in a word doc on my computer. But on Friday I am escaping to my most special place in the world, to try to wrestle the book into shape. My aim, by the time I come home, is to have a finished first draft, or at least a messy one. I will be writing from this very special house, and sending lots of pictures… but just to forewarn you - I won’t be able to tell you where it is, because then it will no longer be a secret.
Here is the post I wrote for London Lit Lab - I hope it’s helpful…
