'Everything has changed' - capturing a moment of transformation
A small example of a transformative moment that might help you come up with an idea for my Summer Flash Memoir Competition... (can't promise it's any good!!)
I have been thinking about the Summer Flash Memoir Competition I wrote about last week - you can catch up on it here:
And I wanted to have a go at writing a short piece about transformation. What I landed on was writing from a threshold, at that moment of change, when you know that what came before is no longer viable. It’s impossible to go back. You can only move forwards. This is a good place from which to write because there is a lot of energy and friction in this moment, the tension of hope and newness mixed with fear of the unknown. So, below, I’ve given it a go, to give you a sample of what I had in mind when I set up this competition. It might help nudge you in the right direction, if you’re sitting on the fence and unsure which way to turn. There are only a few days left for the discounted rate on the paid sub, for you to take part. Until Monday it’s 15% off a yearly sub.
